Hugh  Plumb qualifies second at Sebring International Raceway for second round of 2016 IMSA championship

Sebring, Fla. (17 March 2016) – It was another strong showing for Rum Bum Racing on Thursday when Hugh Plumb qualified the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing Porsche at Sebring International Raceway second on the grid. He will open Round 2 of the 2016 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge championship tomorrow from the outside of the front row as the Orlando-based team targets a return trip to the Sebring podium after finishing third in last year’s race.

The starting position marks Plumb’s second consecutive front row start after qualifying on pole in the Daytona season-opener. It also marks the 16th front row start for Rum Bum Racing.

As the 15-minute qualifying session opened at the notoriously challenging 3.74-mile Sebring International Raceway circuit, Plumb set his fastest flying lap of 2:17.213-seconds on Lap 2 of his four-lap qualifying run. With the hot Florida weather conditions similar to what is expected for Friday’s 2.5-hour race, the Rum Bum squad is confident heading into the event.

“Another front row start for Rum Bum Racing and as always I don’t expect anything different out of these guys,” said Plumb, who will share the No. 13 Porsche with his brother Matt. “The car was great, it got up to speed right away. It is hot and it is going to be just as hot for the race tomorrow, but I think we have a great setup and these Rum Bum guys know Sebring well enough to know where we need to be and they got it right once again. So thanks again to Luis Bacardi and we are looking forward to the race!”

Rum Bum Racing started out the Sebring week strongly with a promoter test on Tuesday followed by two official practice sessions with Rum Bum setting the fourth fastest time and quickest time, respectively.

The Sebring race begins Friday at 12:20 PM ET with LIVE coverage on

FOX Sports 1 will televise the event on Sunday, March 27 at 12:30 PM ET.
