Austin, Texas (16 September 2016) – Turner Motorsport driver Michael Marsal posted a fast lap time of 2:11.357-seconds in qualifying at Circuit of the Americas  (COTA) on Friday to lock in a spot on the sixth row for Saturday’s Lone Star Le Mans race with the No. 97 Alvarez & Marsal/IHG Rewards Club BMW M6 GT3.

The nearly three hour race will mark the final sprint event of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as Marsal teams with Markus Palttala. The duo looks to return to the COTA podium once again, having finished second in the 2015 edition of the IMSA race.

Marsal, who is newly-nuptuialed having tied the knot last weekend, has posted promising times through the opening practice sessions although he and the rest of the field have had to deal with haltingly hot conditions so far in the joined IMSA and World Endurance Championship weekend.

“It is pretty warm out there, but it is the same for everyone,” said Marsal. “I don’t know why we haven’t been able to be better. I just haven’t felt a good rhythm with the car so far this weekend. It’s not one specific thing I can point my finger at, but it’s been frustrating. Hopefully we can be stronger tomorrow in the race and come out with a big result.”

The 2 hour and 40 minute race will go green on Saturday at 11:35 AM CT and will be aired LIVE on FS2 beginning at 11:30 AM CT.
